Poll: Which is your favourite classic Raid instance?09/03/10

There was a time when some of the greatest threats to Azeroth were engaged by only a handful of brave souls. Were you one of those few fabled folk who took on the might of the Firelord? Did you enter into combat with the Soulflayer? Did you put an end to the chaos that was woven by the Old God C'thun? Our weekly poll asks you which of the classic raid instances is your favourite, and perhaps you'd like to share with us a word or two on why you made your choice!

Fan Sites:

WoW.gaming.dk has started a new initiative on their site, which is to live stream raids that the fansite members participate in. This service is here for all to enjoy, but it is specially aimed for those who are interested in raiding, but haven't got the feel of it quite yet. This site has also posted a nice best-in-slot guide for Moonkins.

Wow.battlenet.pl is working hard to translate the most important WoW-related news into Polish, and this week you can find translations of the 13th BlizzCast, the Developer Chat on Twitter and of the stat system in Cataclysm. Additionally they inform us that their Guild List system is a growing success, which now has more than 130 Polish guilds registered.

WoW Nederland is also working on a Guild List system, where Dutch guilds can register and find members. There are many other updates as well on this site, and amongst them you can find information about the Ruby Sanctum and the Stats changes in Cataclysm. You can also read about the world's first 10 man heroic Lich King kill, and of course the world's first Glory of the Raider (25 man) achievement.

WoWJuju has updated their site with a poll where you can vote on the best WoW fanart of 2009. Another update on this site should be of extra interest to everybody, as it tells you how to protect your WoW account.

WorldofWar.net has an interesting update about the Blasted Lands, which digs into the history of the zone as well as known future plans. On this site you can also find an interview with Julian Rignall, who is the editorial director of the World Of WarCraft: Official Magazine.

Plenty more news and updates can be found on the official World of Warcraft fansites in different languages, so give them visit if you do not wish to miss out on anything.

World of ComicCraft:

When a king looks silly, do you tell him that he looks silly?

It is the Gnome Druids who keep the Humans from wiping the Orcs off the face of the world!

Anyone who dies as a part of a story line is dead for good, a fact which may be exploited...

She killed him in self-defense! He can't hurt anyone any more!

Failure to bring gifts for both tribes means pain!

"If you bail out now, I'll sit on you." When those words come from a Tauren, you better listen!

WoW apps are cool and all, but let's just hope that some WoW apps won't come to fruition.

Other Stuff:

The Friday Thread has been posted - this week it contains a bunch a cool links as well as the usual opportunity to share and discuss weekend plans :-)

The Dalaran Inn, an Australian WoW fansite, has managed to score an exclusive interview with Wowhead.com, which is one of the biggest (if not the biggest) WoW database sites. This is interesting stuff, so don't miss it.

We all know the story of Arthas Menethil and how he became the Lich King, or at least so we think… Here is the story of Arthas Menethil, seen from another point of view!

And last but not least; the second episode of the Wish upon a Gnome series (WuaG), entitled "The Purple Pixel Plan" has been released. The WuaG series revolves around Jimmy, an overly ambitious gnome who's sole purpose in life is to gain honour and glory. Not to mention escaping his mad mother...

Have a glorious weekend, everybody!

There once was a time when trading across borders was common and beings from distant lands were actually regularly seen by common folk and not merely told about in stories. It was a time when caravans in great numbers were traveling the roads of Azeroth freely, and these caravans were always full of marvelous goods being sold by merchants and craftsmen who were constantly moving from place to place to trade and exchange news and knowledge, and of course also to learn about new items, materials and different production techniques.

These times it is rare to see a traveling caravan, for the world has grown hostile and unwelcoming, and it is constantly plagued by conflict and war. But traveling caravans still exist, albeit they are now only but a shadow of their former glory, but those who are lucky to come across them may witness a glimpse of times past, when the world was a richer and more wondrous place.

Reports have arrived of a traveling caravan moving out from Stranglethorn Vale headed towards Alliance lands, and perhaps it will even move into Horde territory afterwards if the roads are safe. This should come as welcome news for local craftsmen and traders, who now have a unique opportunity to acquire rare and exotic goods in exchange for local common goods that may possibly turn out to be rare and exotic in other lands.

G'tath found himself sitting on the tram from Ironforge to Stormwind. With no memory of how he got there, he looked around and checked to see if he was ok. Then he noticed it. There was a letter strapped onto his right arm. He carefully unstrapped it, and began to read...

"When you are reading this, you are probably on the deep run tram on the way to Stormwind, with little memory of how you got there. For this, I apologise, but something had to be done.

I have come across evidence that the horde are planning a very large assault on the Human city of Stormwind. An assault so big that if Varian is not warned, the element of surprise might actually lead to Horde victory. Unfortunately, I find myself confined inside a magically sealed chamber, deep inside the icy peaks of Northrend. I was lured into this prison by the cunning Mr Bigglesworth...

But enough about that. Time is short, and you are the Alliance's last hope. Make haste to Stormwind, and deliver this letter to the Human king. I have magically encased this letter with the full details of my warning, and once he touches the parchment it will reveal itself.

Now go – Take this letter and go!

However devastating war has been, there are ties that never break. There are aspects of life that never falter, never fail, and that always remain – even if concealed deep down in the bottom of our hearts. Hope – of a new and better day. Hope of the end of bloodshed; yes – hope that Azeroth will one day be rid of the evil schemes of the Burning Legion. And so, as both Alliance and Horde keep this treasure of life safely guarded within themselves, there are some that reach out in attempts to touch on that feeling. There are some that wish to banish the darkness from the lands, from our hearts and from existence.

Regardless of the outcome of upcoming battles, hope can't be lost. And so, Terrafros – a champion of the Alliance – is accompanied by the Holy Templars in organising an event of festivity, happiness and joy. In an attempt to light the very skies on fire, over 2500 rounds of Fireworks will be lit. And so, even in the darkest, gloomiest of times, there will be celebrations. This message goes out to all of the Alliance's heroes: come one, come all – tonight the darkness in us all shall fall!

PvP gameplay has been around in World of Warcraft for quite some time now, and since each class brings a unique flavour to PvP, they appeal differently to the various playsyles people have. What is your favourite PvP class of all time, and which class do you think is the best for end game PvP?

It is early morning and the local town crier scouts the still-empty streets of Southshore looking for good places to hang his posters. His mouth is full of nails and he carries a hammer in his hand.

He spots one of the larger trees at the side of the town square and walks towards it with determination shining from his eyes. When he reaches the tree, he looks at it briefly to find the most suitable place to hang one of the posters bulging out of his satchel. He takes a nail from his mouth and uses the hammer in his hand to nail the poster to the tree and, once the poster is properly fixed, he walks away to find another place to hang another poster.

The poster that now hangs on the tree, waiting to be viewed by the citizens of Southshore, reads as follows:

"Trinkets and gadgets and oddities,
From more worlds than just one.
Food and drink and specialties,
Come buy them before they are gone.
The Southshore Market Day is drawing near."

Sanna Le'Royman was checking out the latest fashion in the streets of Stormwind, much like any normal weekend. Around her some commotion was brewing, and she saw people flocking towards the market square. With her curiosity intrigued, she followed suit and entered the flock heading towards the center of the city. As she was walking down the street, she listened in on the conversations around her. Apparently, they were all gathering to go for Taminak Silverthorn's wake.

"A funeral?" she thought. "Splendid!" she continued to herself -- "I get to dress up and meet new people! I have even met the late Silverthorn in person and can relate!" As Sanna made her evening plans she noticed an old friend among the crowd. It was Minthol Eucalypto.

As she approached her old friend, he caught glimpse of her in his peripheral and turned to greet her. "Tragic news is it not?" Minthol was referring to T. Silverthorn. "I remember when we assisted him in his expedition to Stranglethorn Vale." "Oh yeah," Sanna nodded -- "wasn't that when we met the rather loopy Sir Lawrence Bucwild and his assistant, Brooly Corsto?" Minthol nodded and grinned. "Rather eccentric people, I'd say."

As everyone were making their own plans on how to attend Silverthorn's wake, Sannah and Minthol decided to get started on their journey and wanted head out early so they could catch a nap at the closest Inn. Later that evening, they would attend the burial together, at the Farstrider Lodge in Loch Modan.
